The saga of the president's waec certificate continues, as the president said earlier that his WAEC certificate was with the army. The Nigerian army finally broke silence over the educational qualification of the Apc presidential flag bearer, Muhammadu Buhari by asserting that the ritered general entered the Army from secondary school.

Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Olajide Laleye, told a crowded press conference on Tuesday that the Army holds the president in high esteem and would not like to be dragged into any controversial issues concerning his political ambition.

The army has decided to speak now inother to put out the controversy dominating the president's educational qualifications and to halt the avalanche of request from numerous individuals and corporate bodies to the military asking for the records, Laleye stated.

Apc presidential candidate was picked from secondary school to start military service in 1961 without certificate,  the president was a form six student of Provincial Secondary school,  kastina when he applied to join the military and his application was duly signed by the principal of the school, the principal recommended him to be suitable for military commison,  Laleye stated.

The Nigerian Army spokesman noted that the usual practice in the Nigerian army selection Board is to ensure that the copies presented by the candidates are original before candidates are shortlisted into the officer cadre. However this process may not have been followed in Buhari's case.

There is no evidence of available record to prove that this process was followed in 1960.
However, the entry made on NA form 199A at the point of documentation after commission as an officer showed that the president obtained the West Africa School Certificate (WASC) in 1961 with credits in English language, geography, history, Hausa, health science and a pass in English literature.

However, neither the original copy of the certificate nor statement of result of the president was found in his personal file,  as he claimed.

During the question session Laleye stated that the president attended several professional courses relating to the military profession, two in the United States and other foreign countries.

Laleye also said that he hope the matter of the WAEC investigations and draggings will end with the release of the records by the military as he express is displeasure of the politicians and civilians dragging the military into political issues.
